Positive Mind for Healthier Body

Positive Thinking
Don't be negative, go positive
Did you know that our brain is so powerful that what we think might affect our body? A positive mind can trigger physical changes, making you more energetic and less stressed! This has proven by some studies, which show that personality traits can affect many areas of your health. Optimism usually comes with positive thinking and it's a key of effective stress management.

By all means, positive thinking doesn't mean that you ignore less pleasant situations in your life. Positive thinking means that you approach the situation in more positive way. If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook is more likely to be pessimistic, and vice versa if your thoughts are positive, you're likely an optimist.

Now, let's see example of health benefits of positive thinking:
  • Increased life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Lower levels of distress
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Better psychological and physical well-being
  • Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
  • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
It might seems that these are all just empty words. But no, there was a study for this case, tho it's still unclear why people with positive thinking experience those health benefits. There's a theory that having positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations, which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your body.

Surely, it's not easy to become an optimist. Don't expect to become one in just one night. But with practice, eventually you will have less self criticism and more self acceptance. When your state of mind is generally optimistic, you'll be able to handle everyday stress in more constructive way.
